Designing the Space Around the Experience

Each Voyant piece is created to work in dialogue with its surroundings.

Thoughtful placement, lighting, and spatial balance help the artwork unfold at its intended scale, allowing the depth of the image and the atmosphere of the soundscape to be experienced as one continuous environment.

The Immersion Zone: Sightlines and Scale

To achieve the "Visual Horizon," the artwork must dominate the viewer’s peripheral vision.

VIEWING DISTANCE:

For a 72" X 48" Signature piece, the "Sweet Spot" for the 110° immersive field of view is approximately 4 to 6 feet from the surface. At this distance, the 150MP detail remains sharp, and the edges of the frame vanish into the periphery.

HORIZON ALIGNMENT:

The horizon line of the image (especially in the New Zealand series) should be mounted at the viewer’s natural eye level when seated or standing for the ritual. This ensures the "Structural Respiration" guided by Ellen feels anatomically natural.

Atmospheric Control: Lighting the Horizon

The optical lamination used in the Voyant Process creates incredible depth, but it is sensitive to competing light sources.

ANGLE OF INCIDENCE:

To avoid glare on the Perspex surface, light should be directed at a 30 to 45-degree angle from the ceiling. Avoid placing a piece directly opposite a large, uncovered window, as the reflection will break the "Zero-Gap" immersion.

COLOR TEMPERATURE:

We recommend high-CRI (Color Rendering Index) LED lighting at 3000K to 3500K. This maintains the integrity of the turquoise glacial silts in the NZ series and the stark, volcanic blacks of the Iceland series without "warming" the image artificially.

Acoustic Integration: The Audio Bridge

Since the Emily Morrison narration is the "Software" of the piece, the physical environment must support the auditory descent.

SOUND DAMPENING

Avoid placing the work in high-reverb areas with hard surfaces (marble floors/glass walls) unless there is acoustic treatment. Emily’s low-frequency vocal resonance is best experienced in a "quiet" room where the field recordings from Iceland or NZ can breathe.

Speaker Placement:

If not using headphones with the Voyant Key, ensure high-fidelity speakers are placed symmetrically to the artwork to create a spatial audio bed that aligns with the visual vectors of the land.

Architectural Requirements: The Hardware

The weight of a 5-foot piece with an Aluminium Dibond core and optical lamination is significant.

WALL REINfORCEMENT:

Signature pieces should be mounted to studs or reinforced blocking. The weight of the 4' x 5' assembly can exceed 40–50 lbs.

The "Clean" Perimeter:

To maintain the focus required for the Voyant process, leave at least 12 to 18 inches of "negative space" around the work. Avoid placing it near thermostats, light switches, or other visual "clutter" that could distract the eye during the five-minute ritual.
